St. Patrick’s Ladies GAA Club Notes w/c 22nd October 2018

Our under 14 girls headed to New Inn on Sunday past to play Arravale Rovers in the Tipperary Ladies county under 14C final. The girls found it hard to get into the game in the first half, with Arravale Rovers coming through from deep and getting scores from a range of their players. St. Patrick’s started to gain confidence in the final 10 minutes of the first half, with Clodagh Foley getting a point from play and were unlucky to covert two goal chances. Half time score: St. Patrick’s 0.1 Arravale Rovers 1.10.
Despite having a huge gap to close, the St. Patrick’s girls came out in the second half and got rightly stuck in, they started playing with conviction and through some tenacious tackling and work out the field, the scores started to come. So much so, when Niamh Boland hit the back of the Arravale net with 10 minutes to go, they had closed the deficit to 5 points. However, Arravale responded with two consecutive goals which were huge blows but all credit to each & everyone of the St. Patrick’s girls kept going and did not give up to the final whistle. Final score: St. Patrick’s 2.7 Arravale Rovers 3.13. Well done to Arravale Rovers Ladiesfc, who were the better team on the day.
Team: Laura Butler, Claire O’Brien, Gemma Gahan (c), Clodagh Horan, Katie Power, Laura Murphy, Sophie O’Brien, Mary Ann Fitzgerald, Olga Maher, Keelin Ryan, Izzy Maher (0.1), Karol Ryan, Niamh Boland (1.0), Clodagh Foley (1.6 0.2f), Mia O’Dwyer, Sarah Boland, Ailish Ryan, Faye Noonan, Sarah Byrne, Aoife O’Brien, Erín Moroney, Orlaith McGrath and Anna O’Dwyer.
Many thanks to all parents for their support throughout the year bringing the girls to training and matches & for all who helped out with the post final refreshments.
Huge acknowledgement to the under 14 girls management team of Helen Hogan, Eamonn Murphy, Ann Marie Ryan and Catriona Boland for all their work with girls all year but particular thanks to Helen who when a team manager couldn’t be got earlier in the year, stepped in and took over the helm. The club and especially the girls are indebted to you!
Last but not least - well done to the whole panel of under 14 girls who wore the St. Patrick’s jersey all year & committed to training sessions and playing matches. Today may not have been your day but we are all incredibly proud of your efforts both today and the strides you’s have made all year. In particular; the high regard and the respect in which you’s held your coaches in, is acknowledged. Best wishes to those girls that move up an age group to under 16 next year!

Under 19’s
Hard luck to our under 19 girls who got well beaten vs Galtee Rovers on Saturday past in the under 19C county semi final in New Inn. Playing with the breeze in the first half, the St. Patrick’s girls held their own and went in at half time with a bare one point lead. Half time: St. Patrick’s 0.5 Galtee Rovers 0.4.
However, Galtee came out of the blocks after the half time whistle and launched high paced attacking all over the field, which our girls found difficult to stay with; which resulted in Galtee scoring 1.5, within the first 10 minutes. St. Patrick’s found it hard to get a foothold in the second half, despite their best efforts & only managed one point from play. Full time score: St. Patrick’s 0.6 Galtee Rovers 3.14.
Team: Sadhbh Morrissey, Ciara Fitzgerald, Sarah Walton, Olivia Noonan, Erin O Brien, Maria McGrath, Clodagh Vaughan, Eabha Hogan, Eimear Boland, Leanne Murphy (0.1), Caoimhe Ryan (c) 0.3 0.2 (f), Kate Walsh, Niamh Keane (0.2), Dearbhla Morrissey, Jess Strappe, Katie McCormack, Aine Ryan, Emily Ruttle, Ciara Butler. Unavailable due to work commitments: Eadaoin Wilson and Abaigeal Maher.
Our thanks to Pat Morrissey and Paula Ryan for all their work and efforts with the under 19 team since August. Today wasn’t our day but a lot of this under 19 team are eligible at the grade next year & if they keep training and working hard, will be back next year!

That now sees all competitive action for the club at an end for the year.  We all now look forward to our end of year Celebration Night on Saturday 10th of November!

Congratulations
Many thanks to our under 8 coach Maeve Browne and her husband Keith on the birth of their baby daughter Fiadh, a new sister for Darragh and Eabha and future star for the Ladies Football Club!
