Lorrha GAA News for 11 August

Senior: Lorrha will return to action in the Seamus O Riain Cup against Holycross/Ballycahill next Sunday 12th August in Dolla at 3.30pm. A win is a must to stay in the hunt for the knockout stages. With the Under 12 final at the same venue at 6.30pm, we urge as many as possible to try and attend both games.

Minor: The Lorrha Rovers minor hurlers made it four wins from four in the North Minor 'A' Hurling Championship following a 3-11 to 1-15 win over Borris-Ileigh in Nenagh last Thursday. Goals from Michael Egan (2) and Colm Fogarty saw Lorrha Rovers come from behind to snatch victory.

The win secures a semi-final place with two rounds of group matches to play. Next up is Kiladangan in Cloughjordan on Wednesday 8th August at 7.00pm

Under 16: The under 16's played Kilruane MacDonaghs last Monday in their third game of the championship and won 2-22 to 5-5. Next Monday, 13th August they play Ballina in Moatfield at 7.00pm.

Under 14: Lorrha won their final group game in the 'B' hurling championship against Burgess in Moatfield on Tuesday 4-9 to 4-6 which puts them straight into the semi-final against Newport.

Under 12: Best of luck to the players and mentors of the Under 12 hurlers who play in the clubs first ever North 'A' final at under 12 when they take on Borris-Ileigh in Dolla this Sunday 12th August at 6.30pm.

Under 6 & 8: The U6 & 8's played three matches against Shannon Rovers last Thursday in Moatfield. The kids are improving week by week. Thanks to Shannon Rovers for coming across.

Tipperary: Well done to Donnacha O'Meara who was part of the Tipperary Under 14 football panel in the Jim Power Tournament recently. In their semi-final against South Kerry, they were defeated 1-7 to 1-4 which put them into a Shield final against host Waterford where Tipperary won 2-12 to 1-10 with Donnacha scoring 1-4.

Best of luck to the Tipperary Under 21 Hurlers in the All Ireland semi-final against Galway this evening (Wednesday).

The club would like to thank selector John Madden and the Tipperary senior hurling management team who stepped down last week. 2016 won't be forgotten.
