A chairde,

Lots to report on this week, again particularly with our county representatives.

Congrats Laura Kelly, Sinead Madden (Mentor) and Emma Madden on their All Ireland U16 Ladies Football success last week. The team came back from behind to defeat Kerry in an absolute classic in Tipperary last week. This picture was taken on Sunday morning at the Arus during the team's homecoming and county trip.

SKGAA's Donal O'Shea receiving his Man of the Match Award following his impresssive display for the Galway Minor Hurlers in their win over Dublin in the All Ireland semi final. Donal's 12 points helped Galway qualify for another All Ireland Final where they will face Killkenny on the 19th of August.

All 3 Skgaa boys played very well and contributed to the win. Next up is Meath which will hopefully be played before the Galway senior game on August 11/12.

Coached by Conor Muldoon (Brian's brother) the Americans were well drilled with some strong defenders and they were well able to take s goal too. They were really impressed with community feel to the club and the hospitality and warm reception they got from the U11s and parents and the club. thanks to all parents for helping out with food. The U11s received nice t shirts from our visitors and are already planning the return leg to LA Good man Mullers.

U13B League.

Well done to all the lads

Spirited performance tonight and showed great character to play to the end to snatch the win against a much strengthened Corofin team. Coming back from a 2-3 to 0-5 deficit at half time, we played with the breeze in the second half outscoring 0-10 points to 1-2 gaining a 3-5 to 0-15 win.

U13b will play Claregalway in the U13B league final, probably in Sept.

Adult Hurling

Minor:

The minor hurlers are back training each week in preparation for the remaining championship group games. They still have a good chance of qualifying from their group in the A division and will be ready to roll after the All Ireland Final.

Well done to the Galway Minor Hurlers on a great win last Saturday against Dublin.  It was a fantastic day for all the hard work in SKGAA to see Donal O'Shea receiving Man of the Match and helping Galway along the way with 12 points.  And also we tend to forget about the people behind the scenes, but well done to our own PJ Kelly for all the hard work he puts in to the team . Best of luck in the All Ireland.

Well done to 2 more of our Hurlers Cathal Sweeney fand Eoghan Tinney who had a tough win against Clare in the football to put them in the All Ireland Minor Semi final.

Ladies Football

u16 - A great week unfolded for County Panel Players Emma Madden and Laura Kelly on Wed 25th in sunny Toomevara, North Tipperary. Kerry proved to be tough opponents but the Galway Girls led triumphed in the end after Extra Time by a score line of 3-16 to 3-12. Galway got off to a great start and led by 2 goals after 5 mins. Kerry fought back and scored three goals and led at half time be 6 points. The Galway Girls dug deep and fought back to level the game deep in injury time. In extra time, Galway worked hard and got the all-important goal to allow them push on and win this All Ireland title. Great scenes were observed on the pitch as the Team received the All Ireland Cup. Laura and Emma both did their bit for the team and did themselves and the Club proud of their fantastic achievement. Well Done Girls.

SK Team members with Emma Madden & Laura Kelly. Toomevara 25/7/18.

Next up was Sunday and a warm welcome was extended to the Galway U16 Football team as they visited The Aras with the All Ireland Cup. Many thanks to the many people and players who turned up to greet the Team. Many photos were taken before the team moved onto Barna and West Galway.

Back on the pitch, the SK U16 footballers went down to Corofin in the Championship Quarter Final on Mon 29th July. The Girls gave their best on the night against a capable Corofin team. Unfortunately on the night, the Team did not take enough of the many chances that they created and end up losing 3-8 to 1-4 on the night. The good thing that can be taken from this game was the performance in the 2nd half where SK took the game to Corofin and owned the ball for long spells. Shooting boots were left back in Salthill and McGraths field from the weekend and so the team now proceeds to the Shield trophy where we will play Claregalway or Annaghdown come Mid-August.

U12- Girls football training resumes Wed 15th in Cappagh Pk. First match v Barna Mon 20th. Championship begins Mon 27th. Looking forward to seeing everyone back..and newcomers very welcome. Congrats from all un 12 coaches to Emma and Laura on fantastic All Ireland Un 16 Championship victory.
